Bríd Harper & Magnus Wiik
Bríd Harper and Magnus Wiik are both seasoned performers on the folk scene in Europe, and performed together for the first time opening the Norse Gaels festival in Oslo in 2021. Since then they've found their way to festivals such as Førdefestivalen and as an integral part of the commission Northern Nights for the Baltimore Fiddle Fair in Ireland. As a duo, their music centers on Irish traditional music, valuing tight and dynamic interplay and spontaniety. They're not strangers to tackling tunes from the Norwegian fiddle tradition either, making it a truly transboundary collaboration.
Bríd Harper (fiddle) hails from Castlenn in Donegal and has been described as «one of the best fiddlers in traditional music» by The Irish Echo. Having won many prestigous awards and competitions, including the coveted senior class of the All Ireland in 1988, she's the kind of fiddler other fiddlers speak of with a bit of awe. She's working with the top tier of Irish musicians such as Dermot Byrne, Ryan Molloy and John Doyle, and her solo albums from the last decade have all the hallmarks of classics in the genre.
Magnus Wiik (guitar) is known for his solo work as well as spearheading the modern bluegrass group Open String Department, and is a much sought after string-instrumentalist in folk music. Having released more than twenty albums with his own music, he has been described as «one of our times' most innovative and genius music interpreters» by Mono Magazine. In the early 2010s, he was a regular on the Irish music circuit, playing festivals such as Celtic Connections, Tønder, Oulu Irish Festival and Musiquat in Tunisia.
